Weekend in numbers

Resident statto @splstats looks at some of the numbers from the weekend...

107 - Celtic defeated Dundee 2-1 at Dens Park to maintain their three-point lead at the top of the cinch Premiership. A James Forrest double secured a crucial victory for Brendan Rodgers' side despite the Dee pulling a goal back with 15 minutes to go. Forrest now has 107 goals in 491 games for the Hoops - only Henrik Larsson (242), Charlie Nicholas (127), Brian McClair (126), Leigh Griffiths (123), Frank McGarvey (110) and John Hartson (110) have scored more in the last 50 years. Celtic are unbeaten in their last 43 games against Dundee in all competitions, picking up 37 wins and 6 draws since their last defeat back in May 2001.

20 - Rangers kept up the pressure in the cinch Premiership title race with a 2-1 victory over St Mirren at the SMISA Stadium. Cyriel Dessers scored a 74th-minute winner after Mikael Mandron had cancelled out James Bolton's own goal in the first half. Dessers took his tally to 20 goals in all competitions - the last player to reach this tally in his first top-flight season with Rangers was Kris Boyd in 2005/06, who hit 20 goals despite only joining in January. Rangers are unbeaten in their last 24 league matches against St Mirren - they have 22 wins and two draws since their last defeat back on Christmas Eve 2011.

5 - Dundee United sealed the cinch Championship title and an immediate return to the Premiership with a 0-0 draw against Airdrieonians at the Excelsior Stadium on Friday night. This is the fifth league title in United's history - they won the second tier title in 1924/25, 1929/30 and 2019/20 and won the Premier Division in 1982/83. Jim Goodwin's men have already accumulated 72 points, which is the highest tally in this division since St Mirren picked up 74 in 2017/18 under Jack Ross. If United win their final fixture against Partick Thistle they would also surpass that, and would be the highest-tallying champions since Rangers in 2015/16.

4 - Montrose defeated Kelty Hearts 2-0 at New Central Park to secure a play-off spot in cinch League 1. A double from Blair Lyons ensured that Stewart Petrie's side finished in the top four of this division for the fifth time in the last six seasons. The Gable Endies lost out in the cinch Championship play-off semi-finals in 2018/19, 2020/21 and 2021/22, and missed out due to Covid-19 in 2019/20, but will be hoping to make it fifth time lucky when they face either Inverness Caledonian Thistle or Queen's Park this season. Montrose still have a 100% record away to Kelty in the league - they have faced them in Fife on four occasions and have won all four.

2 - Clyde climbed off the bottom of cinch League 2 thanks to a 1-0 victory over East Fife at New Douglas Park. Martin Rennie's first-half goal was enough to move Ian McCall's side two points clear of Stranraer heading into the final weekend. Clyde visit Elgin and know a win will keep them up, while a draw will leave Stranraer needing to beat champions Stenhousemuir by a margin of at least three goals. The Bully Wee were 10 points adrift after losing to Stranraer in February but have earned six wins and two draws from their last 12 matches to take themselves to the verge of safety.
